Welcome to our feature of the week, Pike Properties! There’s nothing we enjoy more than seeing what our clients are doing with our innovative Panoramic Folding Patio Door System and how they’re applying them to their own exciting projects. Being the door manufacturer, we get to see each hand-made system leave our production factory so it’s exciting to see the doors in real ‘application’. Pike Properties was founded in 2008 by two long-time friends who met in college at North Eastern University. Pike originated in the business of house flipping during the real estate market crash 10 years ago. Pike grew from small house flips to larger ones with more capital and larger profits. As the market improved, Pike Properties ventured into developing larger homes. Eventually, in 2014, Pike moved into new construction and in 2017 they obtained their very own General Contractors license; now they build for themselves, cool, right?
This particular project is Pike Properties showcase home in 2017; compromising 4,462 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 5 and 1/2 bathrooms (wow!). It combines attention to details, high-end materials and casual elegance which all seamlessly blend together to create this amazing home. You can find out all the details on this stunning development right HERE. This is a home located in Charlotte, NC in the stunning Cotswold community; a large community close to uptown Charlotte currently transitioning from old ranch style homes into modern homes like this fabulous new build. With the Panoramic System, we wanted to create something that would make peoples jaws drop when they walked into the home as well as a home centred around the concept of indoor-outdoor living. The obvious solution for us was the Panoramic Door; they truly achieved everything we were aiming for from an aesthetically pleasing point of view. We love the fact that the system is fully customizable with over 200 custom RAL powder coat colors to choose from, you’re sure to find something you will love; we went for a beautiful aluminium Bronze 5-panel set-up.
We really love how clean the doors are when fully opened; there’s no bulky mutiple tracks on the threshhold which is so important when you’re designing modern homes with meticulous attention to detail.. The cleaner the lines, the better! We also liked the fact that there was no need for a ‘pocket’ found in traditional bi-folds or hinged multi-panel fokding doors; these are usually very awkward to trim out, so the easy execution of the install and trim process really gave us the look we wanted and more! With the Panoramic Doors design you really are in full control of the opening because you can choose to have one, two, three or however many panels open as you like, great for controling your climate and encouraging natural airflow throughout your dream home.
We were really pleased with the overall install process which turned out to be fairly easy for a speciality door system. We used a third-party contractor who we had previously used for other projects and he seemed really pleased with the ease of operation and installation itself. We can’t encourage you enough to take your time when looking for an accredited and highly rated contractor; use resources such as Houzz.com or Angieslist.com to find skilled contractors in your area. If you don’t have a contractor you use on a regular basis, take the time to interview a handful of potential candidates, ask questions, view portfolios and most of all, check out their overall ratings and hear what customers have to say about them! In terms of preparation for installation day, the best advice we can offer is to have your selected installer properly lined up with the delivery of the system. You will need to have some flexibility so you can pull together a handful of guys to help carefully unload the door components and move them to the install area; we were given a delivery ‘time slot’ so we made sure to have our contractor and a couple of bodies on standby, when we knew the time we made sure to call our sub-contractor and his team to assist with unloading the delivery. We would absolutely recommend the Panoramic System for two main reasons; firstly it delivers some serious wow factor and they really make a beautiful addition to any building project as they give potential buyers an amazing added feature not often seen in a home. In our mild North Carolina climate, we have 3-4 months in which indoor-outdoor space can be enjoyed by opening up the system fully. Even in the hot and cooler months, the amount of natural light that comes through such a large area is quite amazing. Secondly, the system offers great value for money; after having discussions with our usual window & door supplier, they were not able to come close to the price we paid for this state-of-the-art system, we love them so much we’re already speccing them for an upcoming project (stay tuned for more!). All in all, a phenomenal high-end quality product with so much more to offer than any traditional folding or sliding door on the market!
At Panoramic Doors, we’re all about honoring and supporting our client talent base, and Pike Properties is no exception. Check out this amazing company on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Houzz.com, you will not be disappointed. We for sure can’t wait to see future projects from this phenomenal property development firm.
